Sarah Rebecca Hardcastle is my fourth great-grandmother. She was born in 1776 in Caroline County, Maryland. Her parents were Robert Emmett Hardcastle 1740-1831 and Mary Sylvester 1759-1830.
Sarah Rebecca Hardcastle married February 2, 1796, to Robert Pearce in Caroline County, Maryland. This union had four children: Serena Luana 1798-1859, James J 1802-?, Mary 1803-1848 and Rebecca Pearce 1807-1889.
Serena Luana Pearce born in 1798 in West Virginia married Samuel Fleming on January 28, 1819, in Ohio County, West Virginia. They had two sons William Jackson 1818-1891 and Robert Wallace Fleming 1819-1892. William married Elizabeth Ann Kenton 1823-1886, and they had two children Squire Albert 1849-1902 and Permelia G Fleming 1856-1910.
James J Pearce was born about 1802 in Caroline County, Maryland. He married for the first time to Anna S Greene 1806-1825 on December 1, 1825, in Greene County, Tennessee. They had seven children; Sarah Ann 1827-1908, Robert J 1832-?, Mary E 1836-1898, Serena 1839-1911, Olive Kenchole 1842-1925, Aurilla 1844-?, and Cella E Pearce 1850-?. Anna died before 1863 in Edgar, Illinois. It is not known where James and Anna are buried.
Mary Pearce was born on October 12, 1803, in Ohio County, West Virginia or Maryland. She married Benjamin Hance Mackall, Jr. in 1823 in Belmont County, Ohio. They were blessed with four children Benjamin Hance 1801-1891, Ann Harriett 1831-1927, Ema 1842-1900, James Bond Mackall 1844-1871. Mary Pearce Mackall died on February 26, 1848, in Barnesville, Belmont, Ohio she was just forty-four years old. She is buried in the Northern Cemetery, Barnesville, Belmont, Ohio. Benjamin married for a second time to Clarissa Cooper Carroll on November 15, 1849, in Belmont, Ohio. Benjamin died on January 30, 1891, in Barnesville, Ohio and is buried Barnesville, Belmont, Ohio.
Rebecca Pearce was in 1807 in Maryland. She married Daniel Wilson 1796-1853 on January 12, 1826, in Ohio, Virginia. She and Daniel had nine children, Mary 1831-1923, William L 1835-1910, Sarah Rebecca 1835-1929, Elisa A 1838-1918, Friend P 1841-1862, Anna Maria 1847-1923, Thomas Rollin 1848-1913, India H 1849-1940, Theodore R Wilson 1852-1945. Rebecca Pearce died on February 5, 1889, in Noble County, Ohio and is buried in Summerfield. Daniel Wilson died on November 20, 1874, in Summerfield, Noble, Ohio and is buried in Summerfield.
Sarah Rebecca Hardcastle Pearce married for the second time to William J Wilson on April 11, 1816, in Ohio County, West Virginia. To this union there were two children born, Eleanor Ann (my third great-grandmother 1817-1880 and Robert Hardcastle Wilson 1818-1881.
William J Wilson died on July 11, 1837, in Belmont County, Ohio. Sarah never remarried and died on December 28, 1853, in Ohio County, West Virginia.
Eleanor Ann Wilson married Joseph Pultz (1807-1873) on November 3, 1832, in Berkeley, West Virginia. This family was blessed with ten children, John Wilson (my second great-grandfather) 1836-1860, Elizabeth Ann 1837-1925, Maria Elen 1839-1848, Lewis Alexander 1841-1868, Joseph Cornelius 1843-1919, Margaret Virginia 1844-1860, Moses Grantham 1847-?. Samuel Smith 1850-1923, William Edward 1853-1910, and George Iowa Pultz 1859-1879. Joseph Pultz died February 22, 1873, and Eleanor Ann Wilson Pultz died on September 18, 1880. They are both buried in Indianola, Warren, Iowa in the IOOF Cemetery.
John Wilson Pultz was born on April 12, 1836, in Virginia. He married Jemima Susan Lozier 1840-1928 on June 24, 1858. John died at the age of twenty-four years in Plymouth, Iowa on November 24, 1860, and is buried at Mount Pleasant, Henry, Iowa. They had two children George Edward 1859-1928 and Anna Susan Pultz 1861-1963. Jemima Susan Lozier Wilson married for a second time to Samuel Newton Marquis.
George Edward and Kate Anna Pultz had thirteen children in all. Their fifth child was my grandmother Rubie Jemima Pultz 1889-1973.
